10,000 Delta Skymiles with checking account

SunTrust is giving away 10,000 Delta Skymiles for opening up a checking account with them. It will cost you $55 for your Platinum check card.

While not as lucrative as the 15,000 Delta Skymiles offer from last year, it may be worthwhile if you’re a Delta flier.

The terms and conditions state that you must be a resident of AL, AR, FL, GA, MD, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA, WV, and DC. However, a reader indicated that they were able to sign up for the deal without residing in one of those states. YMMV.

YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! I got my out of state Business Checking acount approved today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sooooo excited and can’t wait for my 125,000 Delta miles to post, as I already got approved for the personal checking account and got my debit card today!
    Thanks!

  2. So…just an update. I spent all the money in both accounts and left a $0 balance, new account statements arrived and they show that the accounts are closed. I’ll wait and see if they try to pull the miles back, but I doubt it since they credited two accounts’ miles to one skymiles account in the first place. With accounts closed and assuming the miles stick this was the easiest way to 10k miles!

  3. And…put my Skymiles # on both my account and my wife’s, so all miles posted to my skymiles. I had done that as a mistake and then didn’t correct it.

  4. 5k Welcome miles and 5k bonus for the Platinum card just posted to my skymiles account. Guess the state restriction wasn’t enforced.

  5. Signing up and the only mention of a restriction was from one CSR that they could still sign me up but with no branches in my state I’d have limited support options. CSR also originally quoted 5k miles on meeting the spend reqs but ‘found’ the newer quote of 10k miles after I asked about it. Signing up my wife led to the same 5k mistake and that CSR did not mention anything about being out of states served.
